JOAN URAM comes to us from a long background of dancing and teaching in the area. Originally a student of Mary Ann Norris in Santa Clara, Joan started dancing at the age of four. Her passion for tap dancing was inspired by Arthur Duncan from the Lawrence Welk Show! Over 40 years later, Joan still enjoys attending tap dancing workshops to improve her knowledge!
Joan loves the joy she experiences when dancing and feels that teaching is the best way to share her love of dance and the freedom of spirit that you can achieve through dance! Known as a technician, she tries to infuse her classes with proper technique, but also a sense of humor and fun.
Joan’s dance experience started in a competition group called “The MaryAnnettes”, which specialized in kick line and prop work in both tap and jazz. As a young adult, she started teaching tap dancing. She has now integrated her love of dance and fitness by teaching Jazz, Zumba, and Pound at local gyms! She is excited for the opportunity to bring her love and expertise of dancing to the Just B Dance family!
Joan worked for many years at Hewlett-Packard Company in both accounting and as an Administrative Assistant while obtaining her BA in Sociology from UC Santa Cruz. She has danced throughout her life and plans on dancing for a very long time!
